Gasper Magallanes joined Working Solutions as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in 2021. In his role at Working Solutions, Gasper is responsible for overall financial management of Working Solutions and leveraging the organization’s balance sheet to raise debt for its lending activity.

Gasper brings almost two decades of experience supporting financial and strategic growth initiatives across a variety of social mission ventures, including CDFIs and charter schools. He is passionate about small business and ensuring entrepreneurs receive the critical capital, consulting, and community connections to be successful. Most recently, Gasper was the inaugural Director of Due Diligence for CNote, a fintech impact investing firm headquartered in Oakland. There, he led underwriting and monitoring of CDFI borrowers, as well as supporting Cnote’s broader scale-up, construction, and management of its $100 million portfolio. Prior to this, Gasper spent over a decade at EdTec, a national boutique consulting firm for public charter schools headquartered in Emeryville, where he supported clients as an outsourced CFO and led the firm’s greenfield efforts across the United States.

As a member of the Working Solutions Executive Team, Gasper has supported significant growth in the organization’s capital deployment, asset size, and impact. Over the past 5 years, Working Solutions has tripled its all-time deployment from $20 million to $60 million while maintaining a focus on small-dollar loans and grants, with 99% of capital deployed to low-income and other historically marginalized entrepreneurs. Additionally, Working Solutions has quadrupled its assets from $5 million to $20 million since 2013. Working Solutions recently expanded both its geographic footprint and loan size, now providing small business loans of up to $100,000 throughout the entire state of California.

Gasper serves on the Executive Committee of the California Coalition for Community Investment (CCCI), a statewide coalition of CDFIs.
