Emily Gasner is the CEO and Co-Founder of Working Solutions.
Working Solutions is a nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) in San Francisco, California that provides microloans of $5,000 to $50,000 combined with business coaching, mentoring, and advising to underserved microentrepreneurs in the San Francisco Bay Area that want to start or grow a business but have limited or no access to traditional financing. Working Solutions prioritizes serving low-income entrepreneurs, women-, and minority-owned businesses and provides services in English, Spanish, and Cantonese.
Emily manages a $6 million microloan fund and has administered the City of San Francisco’s Revolving Loan Fund since 2009. Working Solutions has lent over $7 million to San Francisco Bay Area businesses and educated over 10,000 entrepreneurs. Emily has led the organization’s successful 165% growth in lending over the past 2 years.
She has assisted hundreds of local microenterprises and small businesses access millions of dollars in capital, resources and support they need to grow and succeed. She received the 2009 Innovation in Technical Assistance Performance and Service Award from California Resources and Training (CARAT)/California Economic Development Lending Initiative (CEDLI) and the 2008 Financial Services Champion of the Year Award from the San Francisco District Small Business Administration.
Emily grew up in Central Florida. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Georgetown University and a Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Administration from the University of San Francisco and is fluent in Spanish. She currently serves on the board of directors of the California Association for Micro Enterprise Opportunity (CAMEO). She is also a member of the San Francisco Economic Development Alliance (SFEDA) and the Financial Women’s Association (FWA) of San Francisco. Emily is a Loan Committee Member of the Pacific Community Ventures Loan Fund, a Bay Area CDFI. She currently lives in San Francisco with her husband and 2 sons.
